Our Commitment to the Industry

There is no company or family more committed to the machining industry than DuPage Machine Products. Our owners go back three generations in the machining industry.

Our first-generation owner, Claude Knuepfer, founded General Engineering Works in 1923. Claude was also a founding member of the Screw Machine Products Association at its inception in 1923 and its formal introduction as the National Screw Machine Products Association (NSMPA) in 1933.

Second-generation owner Bob Knuepfer founded DuPage Machine Products in 1969 and was also a founding member of the Alliance of Metalworking Industries (AMI) in 1974. This coalition banded together five similar trade associations with common goals to attain the leverage necessary to be heard in Washington, D.C.

With changes in machining technology and the industry’s move toward processes not traditionally associated with automatic screw machines, the decision was made to change the name of the NSMPA to the Precision Machined Products Association (PMPA) in 1995. Second-generation owner Bob Knuepfer and third-generation owner Dave Knuepfer Sr. both served as past presidents of PMPA.

DuPage Machine Products is currently experiencing its fourth generation of commitment through the combined efforts of Dave Knuepfer Jr. and William Knuepfer, both of whom have also been heavily involved in PMPA leadership activities.

With your help, we plan to maintain our dedication to the machining industry and to the manufacturing of high-quality components for generations to come!
